Some answers found.

Ok everybody....I found some answers to my questions. The reason ppl gain weight after working out is because thier muscles retain water for the recovery process. Like anything else stressed or injured, the body pulls water to aid in healing. As your muscles get stronger and more used to the activity, they quit retaining the water, thus the weight goes back down. Muscle is far denser than fat so a 130lb person made of pure muscle will be smaller than a 130lb person who is mostly fat. So following that premise, yes I will most likely weigh more than I thought I would as my muscle grows and fat shrinks. As long as I focus on building lean muscle rather than bulky muscle it shouldnt be that much different. Right now, I have settled around 129, which is 4 lbs higher than my goal but I notice a difference in the tone of my arms and legs already so I am not so concerned. For now as long as I keep my weight under 130 as I work to get toned, i wont panic. LOL.

My next challenge will be football.....so hard not to eat BBQ during the games! My hubby and I are devout Oregon Duck fans and usually have a big spread every game day. I do have some dishes I can make that are belly good and I plan on researching some more but the bigger problem is that we usually munch continually through the game.........well I guess that is going to change. hehe.

As far as the food goes... I have been eating well the past few days, really focued on sticking with my healthy carbs to help with my over all nutrition and health. One of my favorite things to eat for breakfast is a burrito on the smart and delicious....loaded with cheese, bacon, onion, tomato, lettuce, spinach, and maybe some sour cream. I deep fry the shell first and it makes it way better. I think they are way too dense to eat soft. I have Chia seed pudding for lunch....like Katie, I don't put it in the fridge...I just let it set up for a few minuets and eat it up! I have a small handful of almonds, a pepperonii or string cheese for snack (all 0/0) and then usually just meat and green veggies for dinner or a salad........... Last night I had a taco on the smart and delicious so I got a whopping 48 grams of fiber minimum for the day. I drank so much liquid because I didn't want to get a little sluggish. LOL. So far so good. I am going to eat a little less fiber today but still with the Chia seeds being 20g for 4T of pudding....it is so easy to get my daily allowance in. I am so loving the pudding! I am going to start looking at what other health bbenefits it has.

For today, I am going to take a long soak in the tub, do a little housework and maybe watch some movies or something. I really need to read my book....I have been having a hard time getting into it although I have heard that once you do, it is a really good read and there are two more books with it that are also fantastic. Hopefully I can break through the boring part today. Wish me luck!

Have a great BFC day!

  2. Good luck with the football snacking! Glad you're not too concerned about the weight and muscle. I am dealing with that too, you just gotta keep doing what you know is healthy and you will get your body where you want it to be!

  3. Thanks for sharing that with us, the info makes a ton of sense and is reassuring. With football right around the corner (Hubby and I are University of Washington Husky fans)I am also a little concerned about how to stay away from all the yummy belly bad foods. Our little blog community will be great to help with belly friendly ideas. Have a great day :)

  4. Thanks for the info about muscles retaining water question. Totally makes sense. I made the most delicious dark chocolate/peanut butter oatmeal this morning. I think I'm going to post the recipe later. Have a great Friday.

  5. That is what I have found too with my running. I lose a little water weight, just from sweating. But I can feel my leg muscles get tight from water retention after a long run. Like Im flexing them, but Im not! Id love to maintain at 130 Randi, that is awesome!
