BFC - 5 week review

I have been on the BFC for nearly 5 weeks. I didn't want to write a review until I had completed at least a month of this new lifestyle. This is my experience for the first few weeks on the BFC.

Week 1 - Starting weight 150 and waist 38 1/2". I weight myself twice daily, morning and night. The reason being, I wanted to see how the consumption of certain foods impacted my water weight and general bloating. If I varied more than 1.5 lbs between morning and night, I knew I would need to make some adjustments. The first three days I didn't loose any weight. Days 4-7 the weight started coming off and so did the inches. I struggled some with a sluggish digestive system and drinking enough water. Total loss for the week (5.5 lbs and 3.5 inches!)

Week 2 - The first few days I lost another 1.5 pounds but then gained it back. I hovered around that weight for the next week but finally broke the plateau by eliminating artificial sugar. I didn't write down my weight at the end of that week but I think I was actually up a pound and lost no belly inches in week 2.

Week 3 - Focus on fiber!! I realized the importance of fiber in week three and restructured my BFC intake to make sure I was gettting my fiber in. I was yoyo-ing with a sluggish digestive system this week and would go up a pound, down a pound. By the end of week three I had lost the gain back and was down 6.5 pounds total at the end of week 3.

Week 4 - Keeping my focus on fiber, my digestive system is finally getting on track...eating the BFC is becoming second nature and I am down another 1.5 pounds for a total of 8 pounds and one more belly inch for a total of 5.25 inches in my waist!

Week 5 - Midway through week 5 I decided to avoid wheat gluten as much as possible. I began cooking with flax meal. I have also been making sure I get enough water and discovered that not all stevia is 0 carbs per serving. After going back to my 0 carb Stevia and avoiding wheat gluten, on day 5 of week 5, I am down another 2.5 pounds so far this week AND 10.5 pounds total! Passing the 10 pound mark was a huge deal for me....now my goal is passing the 15 pound mark!
Only 4.5 pounds to go! I love making mini goals because it keeps me motivated!

Have a great BFC day!!

  1. I envy you. I started BFC on Valentines Day. Like you I don't have much to lose. I started at 155. The lowest I have gone is 149. Right now I'm hovering around 152. I think my problem is eating carbs too late in the day. I figured since this is a life style, I shouldn't make changes that I can't stick with. But now I'm reconsidering that thought. I'm going to try not eating carbs after 5 (not 3). Let's see if that brings the weight down. Congratulations on your BFC success:)

  2. It also helps if the carbs you eat later in the day are from veggies, not breads or grains. I shoot for no carbs after 3 most days but I am not super ridgid on that because like you said, its a lifestyle and its not always going to work out that way. Every time I hit a plateau, I shake things up a bit and it seems to break it pretty easily. You might want to take a closer look at the foods you are eating to make sure they don't have artificial sweeteners hidden in there...when I did that I had great results.
